Cryptorchidism etiology
WebCryptorchidism is the medical term that refers to the failure of one or both testicles (testes) to descend into the scrotum. The testes develop near the kidneys within the abdomen and normally descend into the scrotum by two months of age. In certain dogs, it may occur later, but rarely after six months of age. WebCryptorchidism Causes. In most children with cryptorchidism, it is unknown why the testicles fail to fall. It could be that the testicles are abnormal, to begin with. In other instances, a mechanical issue exists. The testicles fall but escape the scrotum, landing beside it rather. So these are referred to as ectopic testicles.
